THE FIRST INGREDIENT IS LOVE

THE FIRST INGREDIENT IS LOVE

Many ask Johnny what his special ingredients are. His answer is always the same, “I start with love!” Johnny loves to cook and wants everyone to get a plate of food fit for your favorite family member.

YOU ORDER. WE COOK

YOU ORDER. WE COOK

Because we want everyone to receive hot, fresh prepared to order food, we don’t typically use heat lamps. We don’t believe in food being pre-cooked and under lamps for time before it’s ordered. You order. We cook.

ONLY THE BEST

We shop daily to get the freshest ingredients for our dishes. We don’t believe in pre-battered and/or pre-packaged ingredients.

MAKING A DIFFERNCE

In The News
TUPELO – It’s with no small bit of irony that Johnny Cook is busy sautéing half-pound portions of shrimp in a garlic-butter sauce, moving quickly to help fill the growing list of orders his wife, Jennifer Brignac, is taking over the phone and in person.

“Yes, his last name is Cook,” she said with a laugh. “It’s pretty fitting.”

But the couple isn’t working in a large restaurant kitchen; instead, they’re working out of an 8 1/2-foot wide, 18-foot-long mobile food trailer.

Why not a permanent location of some kind instead? While they were interested in serving and selling food, they weren’t really interested in opening a traditional brick-and-mortar location.

“We definitely wanted to do a food truck of some kind,” Jennifer said. “We lived in Starkville and decided to move to Tupelo to do that.”

While the food trailer spends most of the time in either Tupelo or Pontotoc, Cook and Brignac didn’t get in the food selling business to put a lot of money in their pockets.

Instead, they’d rather use the proceeds to help fund their mission of providing disaster relief to those in need. And while Jo’s Cafe is a single mobile food trailer for now, Johnny has bigger plans.

“Eventually, I’d like to see 100 of these going all across the country and helping out after a disaster,” he said.

Explained Jennifer, “Johnny had friends who went through the Smithville tornado, and he’s familiar with disaster relief. After the tornado, he helped raise money and got volunteers together, and then served more than 2,100 meals to the tornado victims, first responders and others who helped.

“He loves to cook. And I didn’t want to open a restaurant just for the sake of having one.”

This lil food truck is ahhhmazing!!!! My friend and I went on our lunch break at school today. We have been hopping around all week and today we just didnt know what we wanted! She mentioned something about the food trucks set up at Fairpark and I said let’s hop on facebook and find Jo’s. We did and we ordered! Jennifer is the sweetest!! We fell in love with her. Her husband is just as awesome! As hot as it was outside and as hot as it was inside the truck they were still humble and sweet! Our food was literally out of this world and nothing short of amazing!! That ribeye sandwich is literally to die for and a side of fat boy fries covered and smothered in Philly cheese steak, was the best food I have had in a long time. Elizabeth my friend got a patty and a bun with onions rings and she said it was the best burger she had ever had!!! We literally couldn’t finish it all and we were bellyaching because we were stuffed! We will be back, no matter where we have to chase them down!

Wanted to post now to give people a chance to get to Jo’s Cafe for lunch TODAY. My husband and I shared the Philly Cheese Steak fries. I don’t have a picture because if I stopped he would have eaten them all…lol. But they looked exactly like the video. If I could give more stars I would!!! This was our first time eating there but definitely not our last.

I ordered the Hen’s Nest, and I have reoccurring dreams about its deliciousness. I only wish I could have it for dinner every day.
